Australian Youth Rocketry Challenge 2010
Thursday, 05 August 2010 07:51

Queensland Rocketry Society Inc. is proud to be hosting the inaugural Australian Youth Rocketry Challenge in 2010. You can follow all the action at the official website: http://www.rocketcontest.org.au

Australian Youth Rocketry Challenge 2010

The Australian Youth Rocketry Challenge is pleased to present to you an exciting and unique challenge unlike any other in Australia. This competition is following in the footsteps of both the USA and UK who have successfully run an equivalent event for a combined 10 years with over 50,000 participants.

The purpose of this rocketry competition is to help educate school aged students using all the factors involved with launching a model rocket for a particular mission. These factors include and require the theoretical and practical use of mathematics, physics, history, aerodynamics plus many more. Many volunteers with rocketry experience across Australia will help mentor the students and participate in varying roles in the running of the competition.

Well, this morning we headed out just after 7am towards Caloundra at Sunshine Coast. Weather was showery but not too bad. Got to the school well in time and ended up setting the display under one of the school buildings due to showers.

It was real good having Matrix( Bruce) there to give a hand. He is local and on holidays so it worked out great.
