Yet another great launch. A bit less hectic, which was a good change of pace. More people are venturing into the world of composite reloads. That first countdown certainly gets the ol' adrenalin pumping as you try and remember if you assembled everything correctly  before pressing that big red button Tongue out Gallery may be coming soon, and the forum thread can be found here (new window, starts at posts made after the launch).

Sunday, 04 May 2008

The Queensland Rocketry Society is presenting a display of model rocketry at the Logan City Council’s Grand Fiesta on Saturday 10th May 2008.

Come and see what model rocketry is all about. We will have rockets ranging from the 2.7 metre long HyperLOC 1600 down to small water rockets, as well as everything to build and launch model rockets. Experienced members from the Queensland Rocketry Society will be on-hand to show you our rockets and answer any questions you might have.

The Grand Fiesta will be held at the Logan Gardens, located on Civic Parade at Logan Central. Entry to the festival is free for everyone. There is free parking behind the Logan Entertainment Centre, 170 Wembley Road, Logan Central.

The festival starts at 12:00 noon. The QRS display will be operating until about 4:00pm. You won’t be able to miss us. Most QRS club members will be wearing bright yellow T-shirts emblazoned with the QRS logo.

The Grand Fiesta has entertainment, arts, crafts and activities for the whole family. Follow this link for more information about the festival.

We hope to see you there!

We would like to thank everyone for coming along and showing interest in our hobby, and hope to see you again at our future launches.

Bribie Island High School

Thursday, 15 November 2007

On Thursday 15 November, Blake, Petar and Ari visited Bribie Island High School and gave a 90min presentation about rocketry. Over 100 yr8 and yr9 students listened attentively as the history of the Saturn V rocket and its mission to the moon was given. All of the stages of the Saturn V were shown on a scale model that was dissassembled to show the complexity of what left the Earth and the simplicity of what returned.
